Chrysalis

Chrysalis is a multi-disciplinary work about eating disorders. Combining transformative costume, videography, ritual and live sound design, it presents an authentic representation of male eating disorders through a spiritual lens.

A key gesture in the work is the presence of a chorus of eating disorder ‘Deities’ - non-human spirit figures who keep one foot in the realm of cabaret and clown, with these playful forms balancing the weight of the subject matter.

Chrysalis has been developed with support from Arts Council England.

As part of our development we’ve set up an Eating Disorder Survivor Group as a space for ED Survivors to share space and life experiences. The Group also read and fed back on the script for Chrysalis, feeding into its ongoing development.
